We stand by the power of love
As an organization that aims to positively transform Latin America through developing and connecting a new generation of principled and socially innovative leaders, standing by the LGBTQI+ community isn’t a choice. It is the right and only thing to do. In a world marked by so much hatred, we choose to love.
LALA is committed to the fight for diversity, equity, inclusion, and access. This means the LGBTQI+ fight for equality is also our fight. We celebrate everyone’s right to self-expression and freedom from bias, prejudice, and persecution. We dream of a Latin America where there is more love and less hate, more inclusion and less division, fewer stereotypes and more empathy. For us, this is not only a dream but a focus of our everyday work.
To support the LGBTQI+ community, we will use our platform to spread love. During June, we’ll strive to educate our community members through articles, posts, and initiatives representing what the LGBTQI+ community is and what it looks like in Latin America. Approximately 32% of LALA alumni identify as LGBTQI+, and we hope each one of them, in all their uniqueness, feels represented, supported, heard, and most of all–loved.
The struggle for LGBTQI+ rights is a struggle for human rights. We invite partners, donors, community members, and all human beings to always stand by the power of love.
