At just 14 years old, Alvaro Benavente had a life-changing experience hiking a mountain with his grandfather—an moment that sparked his love for nature and a desire to share that feeling with others. After his grandfather’s passing, Álvaro found in nature a way to keep that connection alive, which inspired him to protect these environments in the face of the climate crisis, including glacier melting and extreme weather events in Peru.
