The LALA Ecosystem

The LALA Ecosystem is a collection of programs and initiatives co-created with Alumni that focus on your leadership journey from the moment you join. We offer mentorship sessions, virtual learning clubs, career development programs, a support network of other amazing young leaders, and more!

The entry ticket to these development opportunities is participating in our Virtual Leadership Camps.

The Ecosystem is the main mechanism in LALA’s efforts to better support young Latin American leaders to reach their full potential through education. LALA aims to provide a socially-impactful, self-development environment that invites students into a lifelong learning community and journey.

Ecosystem Initiatives

Attending a V-Camp is only the gateway to a holistic environment of opportunities. LALA provides internal and external initiatives and programs to its alumni that can continually help them in their leadership development journey. Once you attend a camp, always check your email and LALA’s communication channels for upcoming activities and the link for the LALA Ecosystem Application!

Here you can find all of othe initiatives you can be part of after you attend a V-Camps. Click on the icons to learn more about these programs. You’ll find information regarding its objectives, duration, and the application process .

How can I join these initatives?

The application for our Ecosystem initiatives can only be done after the attendance at one of our V-Camps and through a Common Ecosystem Application during two periods - from December to February; and from July to August. The link to the Application System will be available on our site and our Social Media platforms during those timeframes.

On LALA’s Ecosystem application, you will be able to rank your preference of which opportunities you’d like to participate in through a single form and then wait to see in which one you were accepted.

Admissions Team

The team is responsible for organizing our admission process, reviewing applications, interviewing candidates, and selecting students to be part of our Entry Programs. You will be able to improve your ability to inquire and create comfortable interviewing environments and your active listening and decision-making skills.

Alumni Coordinator

Alumni Coordinator

The Alumni Coordinator position is available on the different staff teams, such as Admissions, Operations, Data & Tech, and others! It is an ideal part-time job to have your first contact with the professional environment and work towards LALA’s and your shared goals. You will be able to develop hard and soft skills, including adaptability, problem-solving, project management, etc.

The Audiovisual team creates content for the Communications Team. You will be able to develop editing, recording, storytelling, and communications skills in translating LALA’s mission in creative and innovative ways.

Camp Staff: Coach

Camp Staff: Coach

The Camp Staff: Coach program is an opportunity for students to return to support camps as a staff members to ensure the best experience possible for camp participants. The tasks that coaches will be in charge of include taking care of 5-8 participants (“family group”) and being fully present at the camp to give feedback to facilitators/camp managers and running side events.

Camp Staff: Trainee Facilitator

Camp Staff: Trainee Facilitator

This is a program where students support the facilitation (end-to-end execution) of LALA's Virtual Leadership Bootcamps. The role responsibilities include facilitating, planning, instructional designing, managing, and much more. This program serves as a bridge to accomplish LALA's vision of having all Camps led by students someday.

Weekly Hours:

15-20 Hours/Pre-camp + 70 Hours/Camp + 5-10 Hours/Post-camp

Camp Staff: Trainee Manager

Camp Staff: Trainee Manager

This is a program where students support the facilitation (end-to-end execution) of LALA's Virtual Leadership Bootcamps. The role responsibilities include facilitating, planning, instructional designing, managing, and much more. LALA staff members supervise the Trainee Managers, and themselves manage both coaches and participants during camps and work alongside facilitators.

15-20 Hours/Pre-camp + 70 Hours/Camp + 5-10 Hours/Post-camp

Care Guide

Care Guide

The Care Guide is a pilot of a long-term longitudinal study design to test LALA's theory of change. Think of it as the LALA way of checking in (through in-depth Zoom interviews) and capturing qualitative data to understand an alum's life path and long-term impact. You will have an opportunity to develop skills in qualitative research  (interviews) and data analysis and also form bonds with other LALumni & LALA staff.

Career Internship

Career Internship

The LALA Career Internship is a program where students are able to receive an online 2-month Career Development Training and a part-time 6 to 12-week paid professional internship with a LALA partner organization. You will have a chance to enter the job market and improve skills such as professional attitude, effective communication, organization, and commitment.

Compassion Cultivation Training

Compassion Cultivation Training

This program aims at nurturing the qualities of compassion, empathy, and kindness for oneself and others, while bringing together insights and techniques from psychology, neuroscience, and contemplative practice. It integrates evidence-based meditation techniques, group discussions, informal lecturing, and real-world exercises to train our compassionate hearts.

DEIA Committee

DEIA Committee

The DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access) Committee is a group designed to engage students in discussing DEIA topics, and brainstorm and implement DEIA initiatives at LALA. Being part of this team, you will have access to a space where you can discuss sensitive topics while feeling a higher sense of belonging and representation within the LALA community. You will also have the chance to strengthen your empathy, public speaking, research, and project management skills.

The Mentorship Initiatives Team manages all the logistics for the Mentorship Program: promoting applications, reviewing and matching, organizing resources, tracking and evaluating each match, and hosting training/networking events for both mentors and mentees.

This team consists of mentorship cohorts where we match a LALumni to mentors each cycle and semesterly Open mentorship weeks. The Storytelling Team works towards collecting, writing, and sharing the incredible stories we have in our community, including LALumni, guardians, volunteers, partners, donors, and staff. You will be able to strengthen your networking, writing, editing, interviewing, and project management skills.
